Poem: Flushed cheeks.

Flushed cheeks.
A smile on the corners of her mouth.
A hidden chuckle.
She spoke with confidence.
A small laugh.
Her cheeks grew redder.
Her stomach dropped.
Hesitated to go further.
He stood there.
Hands in pockets, balancing on his toes to heels every few seconds.
Pause, silence. Nervous.
Heart beat pacing, thump thump.
Her lips began to move,
He interrupted. Stopped.
.. Rejected.
Not one more minute.
Shocked at the sound of the footsteps,
but also shocked with what she could have said in less than a minute.
Rejected. Heart calmed down.
She turned, sighing. Rejected. Gone.
Mistake.
He didn't let.
Didn't want.
Couldn't care. Didn't.
Conceited, grinning to himself.
Kept walking away, highfiving a friend. Player.
Other friend stopped, looked at the other direction.
Disappointed, angry. Eyebrows drew together.
Rejection.
Understood her feelings.
Wanted to accept them.
Secret.
Or will it?
